This year’s annual ‘Rock & Roll Hall of Fame’ induction ceremony took place last night at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles, Ca.
And believe it or not Public Enemy was inducted this year, their very first year of eligibility into the hall of fame! It took a whopping 14 YEARS long for Rock band Rush to be inducted, their drummer Neil Peart couldn’t hide their excitement any longer and said:
“We’ve been saying for a long time this isn’t a big deal. Turns out, it kind of is.”
The crowd received him with a huge standing ovation for his acceptance speech.
Singer Harry Belafonte Jr., praised Public Enemy for changing “everything about the emerging urban musical force called rap.”
Flavor Flav, wore a white tuxedo identical to his son’s, and his trademark Clock around his and gave a lengthy acceptance speech.
Jennifer Hudson delivered a hot rendition of Donna Summer’s “Bad Girls” and “Last Dance,” which she sang, at times, to Flavor Flav…lol! Kelly Rowland did an outstanding job for standing in at the last minute in place of Christina Aguilera for the Donna Summer tribute. Way to go Kelly!
Oprah Winfrey was also there to induct her friend Quincy Jones, while she left the singing to
Usher, who performed a tribute to Quincy Jones by recreating Michael Jackson’s “Rock With You” video.
To cap the night off, we got a HUGE surprise when Public Enemy, Rush, and Heart joined John Fogerty, Dave Grohl, Gary Clark Jr., Tom Morello, and DMC for an off the hook version of Robert Johnson’s “Crossroads!”
