Beyonce Knowles performs ‘I Was Here” to support the United Nations’-driven campaign for ‘World Humanitarian Day’.
Beyonce sat with CNN’s Anderson Cooper to chat about her involvement with the project, raise awareness and encourage people to give back. Despite Beyonce’s charitable involvement fans didn’t seem to catch the message but rather one particular word that she used.
“Every single day the smallest thing helps … I feel like if we all realize that if we do something small and if all of us in one day do something effective it will be so impactful,” Beyonce said.
Fans of the “Beyhive” went into a twitter war over the word “Impactful.” People took to twitter to accuse Beyonce of using improper English while fans defended the Pop diva’s message.
“Impactful is a word. Lol its an intransitive verb,” one Twitter follower with the username “A Black Woman” tweeted.
“Omg…y is there even this discussion about “impactful”? No it’s not a word..and that’s fine. It’s Beyonce, not God. She’s human too,” one follower with the username “Be-You-Tea” tweeted.
“Ive heard Presidents use the word Impactful. Trust me, if Alicia Keys, or even Rihanna said it, it would NOT have been a prob,” Patrick tweeted.
“Ahhh Beyonce can’t win for trying. Impactful is not an actual word but I don’t think she’s the only one who uses it as if it is,” Toni tweeted.
What do you think? As I type this message including the word “impactful” my spell checker underlines every “impactful” word…so I take it this as my answer that “impactful” is not a word.
Beyonce may not have graduated high school, but lets give credit where credit is due. The woman is making “impactful” coommitments to make the world a better place. What are you doing to make a positive difference in this world?
World Humanitarian Day is on August 19, 2012, and in a bid to help the campaign reach at least 1 billion people, Beyonce‘s “I Was Here” music video will be released on the same day.
