SNL starts 2014 off with a little more diversity!
Last year the popular late night sketch comedy show “SNL” was under a ton of scrutiny when the public noticed they haven’t had a black female comedian since Maya Rudolph…. which was 5 years ago!
Maya was never replaced with another black female comedian when she decided to leave years ago nor have they hired another one…. as a result SNL did what they should have done five years ago, hired Sasheer Zamata.
Sasheer was apart of multiple “SNL” showcases a few years ago, but SNL scouts never picked her up… that is until now!
Last year, Kenan Thompson defended the show’s lack of diversity by saying that there hasn’t been any female black comediennes on the show because they have a hard time finding women who are ready:
“It’s just a tough part of the business. Like in auditions, they just never find ones that are ready.”
