A total of four people were killed in a shooting rampage on and around the campus of Santa Monica College yesterday (Friday June 7th)
Officials say a man with a semi-automatic weapon got out of a car and began firing at passing vehicles, including a city bus. But the gunman had begun the crazy shooting spree at home by killing his father and brother. They were found in a burning home less than a mile from the Santa Monica College campus where the gunman was later killed.
The L.A. Times reports the gunman had time to carjack a vehicle being driven by Laura Sisk, 41, of Culver City. Laura said she assumed that the gunman was with the police or Secret Service….She was in an unfamiliar neighborhood, trying to avoid the roadblocks set up for a visit by President Obama when she steered her blue Mazda onto Yorkshire where he made her pull over and drive him to the Santa Monica College.
The college was quickly put on lockdown, and the suspect was found in the school’s library and taken into custody, the L.A. Times reported. After hearing reports of additional shots being fired after the initial suspect was arrested caused police to continue a search for a possible second gunman.
However, the rampage came to its bloody conclusion when police officers arrived on the scene and gunned down the suspect (below).
