Jennifer Hudson and fiance, David Otunga sit down to discuss with Oprah about their marriage plans, number of children they wish to have including her past weight at size 16 and new figure as a size 6.
During the candid interview with Oprah, J-hud shared that she has always been comfortable in her own skin even at her most heaviest weight. However, after her huge breakout role in ‘Dreamgirls’ Jennifer Hudson remembers her transition as an actress in Hollywood was a huge culture shock as she was labeled ‘The Big Girl’ even when she thought she was fit.
“I had lost, like, 60 pounds then. I was exercising everyday, I got down to a size 12 and I got to Hollywood and they were like, ‘How do you feel being the big girl?’ and I was like [looks around], ‘Who are they talking to?’ I literally looked around like, this is normal. This is fine. This is average. Where I come from this is totally fine so I couldn’t understand. Or, another one they would say is, ‘Do you feel insecure being the big girl?’ and I’m like, ‘Why should I feel insecure?’ I remember saying I have the height of a model, I have lips people pay for — things like that. I was highlighting these things.”
We definitely agree with you Jen and definitely believe in a person being at a healthy weight, but we’ve seen the pressures of Hollywood conform some of the most beautiful entertainers into the status quo definition of beauty.
Despite the fact that Jennifer Hudson was comfortable in her own skin , during her first movie role she ended up tweaking her image for the sake of Hollywood. No its not what you’re thinking, (I knew she had liposuction or got a ummy tuck!) nope….believe it or not she had lip injections.
“When I did Dreamgirls I actually had to get my dent right here injected because it was affecting the lighting,” she says pointing at her top lip. “And when I got it done the doctor was like ‘I do not want to do this do you realize people come in here and pay to have the lips you have naturally.’ And I was like, ‘I don’t want to but I have to for the movie!'”
