Its a deal that many thought might not happen, however Fox says Mariah Carey is joining “American Idol” as a new judge.
Well, I guess even hubby Nick Cannon was wrong when he said, “I don’t know if they can afford Mariah Carey. That’s a lot of money. If they gave JLo $20 million, they might have to double that! You never know, it’s one of things, she’s got an album coming out so there’s promotional stuff.”
Just hours ago, Fox entertainment chief Kevin Reilly announced Mariah’s signing to a meeting of the Television Critics Association on Monday in Beverly Hills, CA. and then put Carey on speaker phone to confirm the deal.
“I am so excited to be joining ‘American Idol,'” she said. “I can’t wait to get started.”
Kevin Riley confirmed that long time manager and American Idol Judge, Randy Jackson was very instrumental in getting Mariah for the show. Mariah is the best selling vocalist of all time, however her new role on ‘Idol’ should help re-launch her career and make upcoming LP hit #1 like the rest of her albums!
