On Monday, actress Nia Long gave birth to her second son, Kes Sunday Udoka. “Both mother and child are healthy and happy to be home,” said Nia’s spokeswoman, Priscilla Moralez.Although Nia and beau, Ime Udoka, aren’t married, the new baby is taking his father’s last name. There’s no word yet on whether Nia and Ime have wedding plans but this baby was definitely something they were trying for as she mentioned in an interview with Ebony below: “I honestly asked God for this. I remember I was driving home from the doctor, and I called [my boyfriend] Ime, and I was like, ‘Babe, I’m really kind of sad right now. The doctor actually said if I wanted to have more children, it would be hard.’ The next time [Ime] came to visit, he said, ‘I don’t believe that.’ I said, ‘You don’t?’ He said, ‘No.’ And I said, ‘Good, me neither.’ Then I got pregnant.”The medical [profession] tries to tell every woman, ‘Have your babies before 40 because you shouldn’t have children after 40.’ Society tells us, ‘Get married before 30, because no man wants a woman after 30.’ You are not half the woman you’re gonna be until you turn 30. You’re not even half of that woman yet. So I think if we’d just take our time as women, and do what comes natural to us and for us, we would make fewer mistakes.A few months ago, Nia and Udoka announced when they were expecting and released a statement saying “This is the most exciting time in our lives,” Words can’t explain how thrilled we are by the new addition to our family. We feel truly blessed and appreciate all the well wishes and prayers.”Nia also has a son from a previous relationship, 10-year-old Massai. Congrats Nia & Udoka!
