Tina Turner has finally given up American cheeseburgers for Swiss bacon.
The 73-year-old R&B rocker released her decision through Zuerichsee-Zeitung newspaper. The local council of Zuerichsee-Zeitung made the announcement to grant her citizenship on Friday.
According to the Daily Mail, Although they granted her citizenship the decision still requires approval from the state and federal authorities. When asked about her giving up her American citizenship she responded in a German newspaper by stating the following:
‘I’m very happy in Switzerland and I feel at home here. I cannot imagine a better place to live.’
Some people have speculated that Turner’s changing her citizenship may result to her paying lower taxes. For example, Denise Rich, a songwriter who has written songs Mary J. Blige and Jessica Simpson married billionaire trader Marc Rich will save tons on taxes by not being a American citizen.
