All three of these artist on the team are from the up north coast of the United States. True Music Entertainment consist of artist Evenzo who was born and raised in Detroit, Michigan, Young Spittah who was born and raised in south side Jamaica Queens, and Prock Pesos who was born in Brooklyn New York and raised in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
How did you break into the music industry?
We broke into the music industry when we moved out to Orlando and started each out on our own path into trying to get the hang of this music industry. It wasn’t until in November of 2012 when we actually started branching off and gaining a lot of exposure through Young Spittah’s good promoting skills online through these social media’s known worldwide.
Choose one adjective to describe your music style?
Versatilely
Do you write your own songs? If so, what are your songs about and where do you draw your inspiration?
Yes we all write and compose our own songs, and we all get our idea’s just from everyday life experiences to past life experiences. Some of our inspiration’s even comes from the mind set of Reality vs Dreams, which Young Spittah took us on a full tour to what it’s all about, back in 2012 after taking bronze on datpiff as an unsigned artist.
What project are you currently promoting and is it available for purchase?
A current project we are working on is the album Hometown “A Vividly Untold Story” which will be available for purchase sometime next year. Right now P.A.T.H. “Pursuit After The Hate/Pray At The Heavens is a mixtape that is available free for download on datpiff by just typing in the name “true music entertainment” in the search bar. This mixtape was the second team drop this year and it’s not only sponsored on datpiff, but also sponsored by Evil Empire Records and a couple of known DJ’s.
Are you looking for an independent label deal or a major label deal?
Right now we all are an independent team and we are interesting in any major record deal that comes our way, as long as the contract is right. The team has always dreamt of working with the team YMCMB as artistes on the roster. As Evenzo looks up to Lil Wayne since he was a young boy and Young Spittah looking up to Nicki Minaj as her idolizer seeing that they both from Southside Jamaican Queens and have that business mentality. Pesos always had the love for money and music….so being apart of YMCMB will be a blessing to not only him but the whole team.
How would you define the word “success”?
If your good with lyrics the whole team will summarize success as what Young Spittah mention on one of her tracks, and that was “(Wait wait!) That’s just how the fans go, its funny how we get the fans going when the ceiling low”.
What is your biggest career embarrassment?
We will have to say that by the grace of God we have not faced a career embarrassment and we are thankful to that. We are always open to changes, but we try our best as a team with the guidance of God to keep mistakes out and save any embarrassment that may possibly be common among artists out of our pathway of success.
Most memorable moment in creating one of your records?
Our most memorable moment will have to be every time we are in the studio, just that team chemistry that we have in the studio, the way we can hear an instrumental and just know what we want to lay down on it with no time wasted and always open up to more ideas and creation in the studio as a team, to make every moment worth it as we wait for our very own moment.
Who has been the most influential person in your music career?
Evenzo will say Lil wayne and T.I. Young Spittah will say Nicki Minaj and Pesos will say Wayne as well.
Who is your celeb look-alike?
We know that Evenzo gets a lot that he looks like Trey Songz, even back in high school they will call him Trey Songz. lol Other than that we pretty much look like ourselves and we like to keep it that way, because it good to keep that own self identification.
What was your first job?
Evenzo first job and still his job to this day will be Advance Auto Part, Young Spittah has a small summer job in a Law Firm Office, and Pesos would have to be the music life of performing on stage when he was up north this summer (2013).
What is your worst Fear?
Our worst fear as a team is not being able to make it as far as we want, everyone wants to live that American Dream but we want more than the American Dream. We want the American Dream and the opportunity to be that cd that is pop in when someone needs to relate or is just trying to cheer up.
What is your guilty pleasure?
Our guilty pleasure will have to be the harmony of our own tracks, like ounce that track is recorded, mix and master no other music typically matters to us. You can ask us if we heard this latest track by this artist and we will be like who? lol. Young Spittah has her time when her guilty pleasure is just listening to Nicki Minaj all day all night and just rapping to her lyrics.
What artists would you love to work with?
As a team we have similarities such as: Wayne and T.I. I’m pretty sure we will all like to work with a wide range of different artistes throughout our music lifestyle.
Any advice or lessons learned in the music industry that you would like to share with other indie artists?
As a team we feel that many artists should be careful of the emails they received because a lot of them are false emails. A lot of people are setting up fake emails and record companies and trying to take advantage of you and your music. In the music business you do have to put out money in order to get studio time, CD prints, buy equipment, get flyers printed, and a whole another nine yards to actually get your name known.
But when a “record label” comes to you to help you add on to what you as an artist have already built for yourself, they shouldn’t be asking you for any type of pay out especially if the contract states they pay for everything. Never make someone who wants your talent feel like they hold any power over you because that’s when you get taken advantage of and we as a team actually faced that but was able to catch on with knowledge in not only the game but in the legal field.
What is the number one thing you hope people get out of your music?
We hope people get that feel from our music like DAMN! I been there or man that some real spit right there. Just something that will forever be with them no matter what time of the day it is and no matter where they are.
