I would love to work with Wale or Drake. Besides Dolla those are my other two favorite rappers. So now everyone knows my top three. I love Wale’s intelligence, his creativity on tracks like “Slight Work” and “Chain Music” and his capability to talk tell stories and touch on deep issues in songs like: “Ice and Rain, “Diary,” and ‘Shades’. I love Drake for the fact that he talks about real life situations that have happened to him, and the things he has been through with women. One of my favorite songs off of his new album is Look What You’ve Done. I’ve been rocking with Drake ever since songs like: “Brand New”, “The Thrill Is Gone”, “Deceiving”, “Come Winter”, and I could go on and on.
Any advice or lessons learned in the music industry that you would like to share with other indie artists?
The only advice I have for other independent artist is to be yourself and to go after it!! If you really want it don’t let anybody or anything stand in your way. I know I’m not!! I would also advise them to help each other out if they like one another’s work. Real Talk we all can’t make it BIG, but you never know who you might need or who might know somebody that knows somebody. As far as lessons I’m still learning myself, so I guess we all are learning together.
What is the number one thing you hope people get out of your music?
The number one thing I hope people get out of my music is relation. I want people to be able to relate to things I talk about in my songs. To be able to listen to me whether their happy or sad or mad, any emotion their feeling at all there is a LiL-A song. Even if I do become a mainstream artist I never want to have a gap between myself and my fans. I want them to feel like we are in this together because without them there wouldn’t be me. I want them to need my music as much as I need them. Finally, I also want them to see that I’m a rapping beast, but I’m sure that’s already quite noticeable.
