Name of Artist/Band and where are you from?
I am Sir Tizzy and I am from Parkville (Countyside of Baltimore), Maryland.
How did you break into the music industry?
I began making tapes at the age of 19. My cousin had been making beats for a few years and only a few artists had used them at the time. In 2009, I told him I wanted to seriously put something down in a studio with good equipment. He finally let me have some beats, and I wrote as best as i could. Once my cousin found the engineer he was looking for, I recorded my first project called “The Wackness”, which was based around the motion picture starting Josh Peck. It was history from there.
Choose one adjective to describe your music style?
Floetic. I was a poet before i actually started taking Rap seriously. At 12, i would write poems in a notebook, while battling kids in my middle school at lunch.
Your rhyming ability is amazing, how did you learn to rap?
When I was 8 years old, my stepfather wanted to own a record label, and I was fascinated by how people would record music. I was always around artists that where from Baltimore City, and it was a dream of mine to be well-known and still be from my city. So, one night, my father had his family and friends over, and he showed me how to write/record a song, the rhythm behind the beats, the metronomes and the levels behind a voice. From then on, i continue to write songs
Now, Remember when Will Smith taught Tatyana Ali to rap in that one Fresh Prince episode? That same game was played with me when I was 12, and a homeboy of mine had taught me how to actually freestyle. I learned and picked up quickly, because I knew how o put thoughts on paper, but i could never speak freely to do so. But I was practicing with my homie for a long time, and then eventually i got shoved into battling this kid who was supposedly the truth at the time. I actually won, and from then on, I kept battling kids.
Who is your ultimate inspiration?
My ultimate inspiration is both my family and everyone that I can listen to and that has made me say, “Why haven’t I thought about saying this?” or “I love the message that is being brought up in this track”. I don’t have one particular person, there are too many to name. Basically if your on my iPods or my Google Music Manager, you have won my inspiration (Lol).
Do you write your own songs? If so, what are your songs about and where do you draw your inspiration?
Yes I write my own material. I draw my inspiration from my surroundings, what I have been through, my goals and dreams, and the life that i live. I also draw inspiration from the people who have kicked it with me and have told me about themselves and what they have been through, as well. I desire common ground and relativity amongst the masses. My songs are based upon real-life drama and issues, or the joyful moments in my life. They are a list of desires that are explained in an allegorical form.
What project are you currently promoting and is it available for purchase?
The tape thats out now, is called “Broken Knights: A Guardians Intervention”. You can grab it at: http://sirtizzy.bandcamp.com/
You can either download it for free by pressing “0” on the insert price tab, or if you wish to donate, you can drop whatever you like in my account. I don’t care if its a penny or what. Support is support. Just MAKE SURE YOU TELL YOUR FRIENDS ABOUT ME!!! (Lol.)
Are you looking for an independent label deal or a major label deal?
Either deal is fine. I just want creative control, and the freedom to do whatever music I please, and the label tohave faith in me.
How would you define the word “success”?
Success is how you reach all of your goals, overcoming all obstacles, and obtaining achievements to the point where you can take care of your loved-ones without hesitations, because you have succeed in doing something that you have placed your heart into.
What is your biggest career embarrassment?
I really don’t have one. I don’t. Most of the things I have done, I have no shame about, nor has anything derogatory happen to my life, in which i would consider a moment embarrassing.
Most memorable moment in creating one of your records?
Me and my cousin was making a song called “Let Me”, on the firs mixtape “The Wackness”, and he was recording his verse after mine. His last bar in his verse was so funny, I laughed until the buckle on my belt completely tore off (Yes, the belt was cheap and I had had the belt for a few years then lol). If you wanna hear the song and his verse, its here: http://sirtizzy.bandcamp.com/track/let-me-feat-i-ron-produced-by-i-ron-of-the-tempo-tandrum/
who has been the most influential person in your music career?
As i said, it’s not one simple person. But, my family has influenced me the most to continue writing the way I write and doing this music. They influenced me to stay individualized and break a new mold when writing the way I do. I don;t know if I will ever cease, as long as they encourage me,
Who is your celeb look-alike?
I have no clue. Some people said I looked like Usher in high school, but I didn’t see it. I haven’t the slightest clue. (Lol)
what was your first job?
I worked at a supermarket. Got involuntarily terminated for being in the wrong place at the wrong time. Let’s just leave it at that. (Lol)
What is your worst Fear?
My worst fear is running out of time to accomplish the things I want to accomplish.
What is your guilty pleasure?
I am nerdy as hell. I love video games, I still watch professional wrestling (Shouts ot that WWE Network lol), and I am a smal movie buff.
What artists would you love to work with?
Anyone who is creative and has an indifference to them that makes them stand out and shine on their own.
Any advice or lessons learned in the music industry that you would like to share with other indie artists?
Please, all of you artists, producers, agents, etc., PLEASE STAY POSITIVE AND KEEP POSITIVITY AROUND YOU. There hasn’t been a time where I (and I am sure all of you have as well) heard some doubtful comments about whatever your passionate about, but the progress you’ve made have shut them up day-by-day. Keep working and grinding, it’ll pay off.
What is the number one thing you hope people get out of your music?
I hope people here the things I say, snag the messages I make, and do Dominique Dawes style backflips (Lol). I hope I influence lives, and make them chase whatever dreams they have.
