The beautiful and stunning Kerry Washington hit the stage with legendary actress Diahann Carroll to present the award for “Best Actor In A Drama Series,” we all knew that this was a set up for her big moment! Diahaan was the first African -American to play a leading role on television, and over 40 years later, Kerry Washington is the first African -American to play the lead in a network TV drama since 1974. If Kerry was presented the award she would have been the first African-American to win an Emmy award for “Best Actress In A Drama Series”.
Unfortunately Kerry did not win. The Award went to Claire Danes for Homeland and Kerry deserved some appreciation for being a good sport as she clapped the hardest for Claire from the front row. Thereafter, Shonda Rhimes, Kerry’s castmates and fellow actresses took to twitter with their heart felt reactions to her loss and supportive words:
