Can Gay Performers succeed in Hip-Hop…….
I guess we will find out soon, because John Legend and HBO have partnered to create a brand new TV series called ‘Down Lo’. The title is pretty much self-explanatory but the plot takes place in South Beach, Miami featuring a gay rapper trying to make it in the world of Hip-hop!
“Down Lo” is being produced and directed by Tony Krantz and will be written by ‘How To Make It In America‘s Seth Zvi Rosenfeld. Reece Pearson has signed on as the co-executive producer. Legend’s film company has also sold the rights to two other shows, including an untitled comedy loosely based on the performer’s childhood.
We all know the topic of gay performers in rap and hip-hop has been a VERY controversial one as of recent and Snoop Lion recently expressed that Gay and Hip-Hop simply DON’T MIX!
So… I wonder….Is this, once again, another way of a Celebrity addressing their “real” sexuality without outrightly addressing what their sexuality is?
