A deadly explosion and fire occurred at a fertilizer plant in Waco Texas that nearly injured 200 people and destroyed several homes on Wednesday night.
The deadly explosion was apparently caused by a fire at the plant in the small town of West,Tx of about 2,800 people about 80 miles south of Dallas and 20 miles north of Waco.
More than half of the town has been evacuated and if the winds shift, the other side of town may be asked to evacuate.
An indefinite amount of people have been killed in the wake of the disaster
“We do have confirmed fatalities,” Texas Public Safety Department spokesman D.L. Wilson told a news conference early on Thursday, about four hours after the explosion. “The number is not current yet. It could go up by the minute.”
An official hotline has been created for people looking for loved ones possibly injured in the explosion. That number is (254) 202-1100.
