Can you “woo woo wooo”
Tyrese Gibson can! The “Sweet Lady” r&b crooner officially confirmed via twitter that he is set to portray Teddy Pendergrass in an upcoming biopic film.
Tyrese wrote on his twitter wall, “It’s official … This is really going to happen..!!! Wow!!” If you read between the lines, he sounds like he’s almost in disbelief and that’s because the movie has been delayed for over a year now. Back in 2011, Tyrese told BET , “We have to get through a bunch of drama and stuff happening right now a little bit with the family. But all of that stuff has to be worked out, then we’ll be able to move forward.”
Tyrese is so excited and mistakenly broke the news a year ago because he hasvery rare, never-seen-before footage of he and Teddy discussing the film opportunity. Tyrese told BET, “I was there during the last days of him being on this earth. He told me himself, ‘I don’t want nobody else in this world to do this movie but you.’ At first it was an opportunity, now it’s a responsibility.”
For those of you who are scratchin’ ya heads right now, tryna figure out who the heck Teddy Pendigrass was, you might recognize some of the R&B Classics like: “Turn of the Lights” “Come Go with me”, “Close the Door”, & “Love T.K.O.” All songs that have been sampled by rappers like Big Daddy Kane and more, be sure to know your history youngins!
